How to use this calculator ↓

What your result means

Total cost is material plus labor across your wall area. Get your wall square footage from the Siding Calculator first, since that adds gables and subtracts openings with waste. Add about 10% for trim, J-channel, and corner posts, which aren't in the panel price.

How to use this calculator

  1. Calculate wall sq ft using the Siding Calculator first (which adds waste).
  2. Get material price per sq ft from quotes (budget $3-7).
  3. Get install labor quote per sq ft ($2-4 typical).
  4. Read material, labor, and total cost.
  5. Add 10% for trim, J-channel, and corners.

The formula

materialCost = wallSqFt * materialPrice laborCost = wallSqFt * laborPrice totalCost = materialCost + laborCost

Material cost is your wall area times the material price, and labor is area times the labor rate. Add the two for the installed total.

Worked example

Say you've got 2,000 sq ft of wall, figuring $5 a square foot for vinyl and $3 for labor. Material runs $10,000, labor $6,000, for $16,000 installed. Add 10% for trim and J-channel and budget about $17,600.
